How To Make A Leather Wallet

Do you always have to have a wallet with you? If you’re anything like me, you probably struggle to keep track of your cash and cards. A wallet is a perfect way to keep all of that stuff in one place so you can get to your money and cards quickly and easily. It can even be used as a phone case if that’s your thing! In this post, you’ll learn how to make a leather wallet. There are many different ways to make a wallet, but the process is always the same. You start by taking a piece of leather and cutting it into a wallet shape. From there, you buy various types of leather and cut them into various types of wallets. This makes it much easier than trying to make a new wallet from scratch every time you leave the house. All you need to know is how to make a leather wallet – the easy way!

How To Make A Leather Wallet

Cut the leather

The first step to making a leather wallet is to cut your piece of leather into a wallet shape. To do this, you need to buy a piece of veg-tanned leather and cut it into the right shape. This is pretty easy if you have a cutting board and scissors. If not, you can always use a knife and ruler to make sure your wallet has the right proportions.

Cover the edges with stitching

Once you have cut your leather into the right shape, you need to cover all of the edges with some type of stitching. For this tutorial, I used three layers of thread: one for each edge and one for the pocket in between. You can also use different types of thread for different edging materials – like linen or rope – but I only used what I had on hand because it was cheap! Start by stitching around each edge using small stitches that are close together. Then, stitch over those stitches with medium stitches that are further apart. Finally, stitch over the last set of stitches with longer stitches that are even further apart. This is to reinforce the edges and make sure your wallet will not fray or tear.

Make a pocket

After you have stitched all of the edges, you can move on to the pocket in between them. To do this, you need to cut a piece of leather that is slightly smaller than your wallet shape and stitch it in place on either side of the edge. You can also use different types of leather for this step, like suede or linen, for example. It’s just as easy as stitching around each edge before, but it makes your wallet look more professional!

Sew on a strap

The next step is to sew a strap onto your new leather wallet. This could be done using any type of thread and needle, like cotton or linen thread depending on the material you’re using for your leather wallet, or even using a leather needle for the strap. To do this, you need to stitch around the edge of the leather where your strap will be. Stitch through both layers of leather and then pull your thread tight to make a loop. Then cut a piece of leather that is slightly smaller than your wallet shape and sew it in place on either side of the edge where you just stitched around.

Add an inner pocket

Once you have sewn on your strap, you can move on to making an inner pocket for your wallet. You can use any type of thread and needle; like cotton or linen thread depending on the material you’re using for your leather wallet, or even using a leather needle for the pocket in between. To do this, you need to stitch around each edge with medium stitches that are close together and then sew over those stitches with longer stitches that are even further apart. This is to reinforce each side of the pocket and make sure it doesn’t fray or tear.

Add a coin pocket

After you have sewn on your inner pocket, you can move on to making a coin pocket for your wallet. You can use any type of thread and needle; like cotton or linen thread depending on the material you’re using for your leather wallet, or even using a leather needle for the coin pocket between the two pockets that you just sewed in place. To do this, you need to stitch around each edge with small stitches that are close together and then sew over those stitches with medium stitches that are further apart. This is to reinforce each side of the coin pocket and make sure it doesn’t fray or tear.

Add a strap

The last step is to attach a strap to your new leather wallet so that it can be worn around the neck like a necklace! For this step, you need to cut two pieces of leather that are slightly larger than your wallet shape and stitch them together; you will be stitching around the edges and then sewing over those stitches with longer stitches that are even further apart. To do this, you need to stitch around each edge with medium stitches that are close together and then sew over those stitches with longer stitches that are even further apart. This is to reinforce each side of the strap and make sure it doesn’t fray or tear.
