Everyone knows that when it comes to keeping your cool on the ice, you can’t skate, you have to walk on the ice. But what if you could stay productive on the ice even when the temperature is -15°? What if you could stay entertained, warm, and social inside the ice center? Here are some tips for getting the most out of your ice skating indoors experience. If you’re anything like us, you probably love to skate. But lately, the weather has been so cold that going outside to skate has felt like an exercise in futility. The last thing we wanted to do was to put our favorite outdoor activity on ice. But at the same time, we didn’t want to let our guard down and not try our best to turn our indoor skiing experience into something fun and social. So here are some tips for getting the most out of your ice skating indoors.
What To Wear Ice Skating Indoors
Wear comfy clothes
The first thing to do is to wear comfy clothes. You don’t want to wear jeans or pants with too tight a fit. The last thing you want is for your pants to keep sliding down and make you feel uncomfortable on the ice. So make sure that you wear loose-fitting clothes that will allow you to skate freely. You can also choose activewear, which will help keep your body warm and sweat-free even if the temperature is low.
Wear a hat
You should also make sure that you have a good hat on your head so that it keeps the heat in and your head warm while you’re skating indoors. A hat with ear flaps can be especially helpful if you plan on keeping yourself warm while outdoors as well as indoors. Not only will this protect your ears, but it will also keep heat in so that when you step off the ice and into the cold air, your head won’t feel like an icicle!
Wear gloves
If you’re going to spend a long time on the ice, you should definitely wear gloves. This will protect your hands from the cold and also prevent them from getting wet if you fall. You can wear any kind of gloves that you want, but we recommend that you choose ones that are made of leather so that they’ll be able to handle a fall or two.
Wear warm clothes
Finally, make sure that you have warm clothes on underneath your activewear or jeans and t-shirt. If you’re going to be outside in weather like this, it’s important to layer up so that no matter what happens, your body will stay warm and comfortable throughout the day…even if it doesn’t seem like it at first! If all else fails, there are always blankets available at most ice skating rinks for use during an emergency situation.
Don’t Be Afraid To Shake It Up
Don’t be afraid to shake it up.
When you’re ice skating, you’re going to want to stay warm and comfortable. That means staying dry and not getting too cold or too sweaty. The best way to do this is by wearing layers that can be removed easily, either because they are detachable or because they are easily removable with a zipper or a tie string. You can wear a coat over your sweater and then throw the coat off when you feel too warm, but the sweater will still keep you warm enough that you don’t have to remove it and freeze in the rink’s air conditioning.
Wear layers that can be removed as needed for warmth or for comfort
The most important layer that you’ll want is your base layer, which is what keeps you from freezing in your chair when the rink’s air conditioning is blasting away. This layer should be the warmest one you can find, and the best way to do this is to look for a sweater that’s made of microfiber. Microfiber is super-warm, but it also dries quickly. If you have a sweater that’s made of wool or silk, it will keep you warmer than microfiber, but it will take much longer to dry.

Wear something underneath your base layer
This isn’t strictly necessary for warmth, but if you’re going to be in the rink for an extended period of time or if there’s a possibility that it might get chilly in the rink, then wearing some kind of long underwear under your base layer will help keep your legs warmer and more comfortable than they would otherwise be.

Try Your Hand At Some Light Entertainment
Bring your favorite board games with you.
There’s nothing quite like sitting around a board game table to keep the mood light. But if you’re not sure what kind of game to bring, here are some suggestions
Play a trivia game.
This is an easy way to start the conversation on your ice skating trip. You can play simple questions like “What famous ice skater would you be if you could be anyone?” or more difficult ones like “Name all of the Olympic sports.”
Play a word game with your group.
This is another great way to break the ice and make people feel comfortable around each other on your ice skating trip. If it doesn’t work, it’s not the end of the world! The next time you go out for ice skating, try playing something different instead, such as “I Spy” or “Guess Who?”
Paint pictures with words or letters on the walls by using our new Word Wall Paint.
This is a fun alternative to the typical ice skating game. You can even give each other clues and try to guess what words or letters have been painted on the wall.
Make up an ice skating story.
This is another easy way to get everyone’s creative juices flowing! Write down a story about your favorite ice skating experience, or write down a list of things you’d like to do while you’re out on the ice. It’s also a good idea to bring some extra paper and pencils so everyone can keep writing their stories after the game ends.
Play charades or “Telestrations” with your group.
Using our new Telestration pens, this is an easy way to play charades with your group and make them feel comfortable around each other at the same time. It’s also fun when you use different colors of pens (or change the color of your own pen) in order for everyone to know who has spoken by seeing who’s the pen is the color they are.
Be A Good Host And Make Your Guests Feel Warm And Included
- There are a few things you can do to make your ice skating experience more enjoyable for your guests. First, be a good host and make sure that you’re always available to help out. If there’s anything that you can’t do or you’re busy, let your guests know and they’ll still have a great time.
- Secondly, make sure that you keep the ice rink fun and social. Make sure to post photos of your session on social media so that everyone can see how much fun they had. And if there’s anything that you feel should be done differently, don’t hesitate to let your guests know!
Conclusion
Even though the weather is cold, the ice skating experience will be just as fun as it would be in warmer weather. The trick to staying warm while ice skating is to stay focused on your body, and not on the temperature of the ice rink. And if you’re feeling cold, let your friends know and they’ll help you out!
