6 Thoughtful Touches that Make a Guest Bathroom Hospitable

Whenever you have guests, it’s always good to make them feel at home. Staying at someone else’s house isn’t always comfortable, but as the host, you can change that. It doesn’t take a lot of money, just a little creativity. Below are six wonderful touches that can make a guest in your home feel comfortable in the bathroom, especially if they’re staying overnight.

1. Grooming Basket

Imagine visiting someone’s home for an overnight visit and receiving a basket with bath salts, toilet paper, facial wipes, body wash, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner. Even if these items are provided in miniature sizes, they would make you feel welcomed. You’ll probably feel gratitude because the host took the time to make sure you had everything you need during your visit. To keep the cost down, these items can be purchased in travel sizes.

2. Bouquet of Flowers

A vase with fresh flowers is bound to make anyone’s day. It’s a cute touch that can bring life into a bathroom. Whether the flowers are placed on the sink or on the side of the bathtub, your guest will appreciate the gesture. It’s rare for people to buy themselves flowers, which is why they are often appreciated when received.

3. Individual Soap

There are few things more concerning than having to use a bar of soap that someone else has already used. While that might be okay among family members, it’s not acceptable for guests. You should either provide them with a personal bar of soap in the grooming basket or include bottled soap.

4. Fresh Scents

There are many ways to bring fresh scents into the bathroom. In addition to the flowers already mentioned, you can find your favorite scent in candles, room perfume or any other products that can be provided if needed. You should have a couple of scents available from which your guests can choose. When selecting scents, you might decide to go with fragrances that promote relaxation, such as lavender, peppermint, cinnamon and rosemary. These are all scents that help reduce stress.

5. Set of New Towels

Even if you do a great job at laundering your towels, it’s still best to give your guest new towels. If you don’t have new towels, you should make sure they receive the newest towels you have. Simply put, you want to avoid giving them anything that looks used or old. You can always set aside towels that are only used for guests. A great set of towels should be large and plush. An added touch is choosing towels that are vibrant and rich in color. You can certainly use white towels, but vibrant towels can brighten up a person’s day.

In addition to the towels that you’ll give your guest for bathing or showering, you can also put hand-drying towels in the bathroom that are disposable. The last thing that anyone wants to do is dry their hands on towels hanging in the bathroom that have been used by others. The easy fix is to provide disposable towels along with the waste basket in the area where these towels are placed. If you’re someone that doesn’t like a lot of waste, there are disposable towels that have been made from recycled materials.

6. New Bath Robe

Another cute touch is providing a new bath robe for your guest. While this can be somewhat extravagant, depending on what you choose, it doesn’t have to be expensive. There are robes that can be purchased for the same price as a large towel, so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank. If you choose to do this, you’ll want to choose a robe that’s larger than what might be needed because your guest can still wear a robe that’s slightly over sized.

When gathering the items for your guest bathroom, simply think about the last time you were in a fancy hotel. Recall the types of amenities that were provided, such, such as miniature soap, shampoo and conditioner. These are all examples of items that you can include in your guest bathroom.
