If you are planning a trip to a vacation resort in the near future, a little bit of homework can go a long way in terms of making sure that you get the most out of your vacation. Vacations are meant for relaxing and fun, so do not wait until the last minute to ask the following questions about your vacation resort. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you need to read all of the details regarding the resort before you commit to a deposit or making a reservation.
1. Does the all-inclusive package include alcoholic beverages?
If you are visiting some of the top beaches in the world, then you may have the option to choose an all-inclusive resort option. You would probably want to pick this option because of the cost savings and convenience. However, you need to watch out for any exclusion from the all-inclusive policy, such as alcoholic drinks, so that you are not shelling out big bucks once you arrive.
2. Is there any complimentary transportation available to the airport?
If you are staying at a luxury resort, there is a good chance that there will already be transportation provided for you from the airport to the hotel. You want to check on this in advance because you do not want to be unexpectedly stuck at the airport waiting around to get to your hotel. Make sure that you also have the hotel’s number stored in your phone in advance in case there is any issue with your transportation from the airport.
3. How far is the resort from other attractions you may want to visit?
According to Sky Harbor Resort, make sure that you actually check out a map so that you have a solid idea of how far away your resort is from activities that you might want to do in the surrounding area. You may be able to get a better deal on a resort that is off the beaten path, but you do not want to eat up too much of your vacation time in traveling to and from different activities.
4. Does the resort accept U.S. currency?
If you are traveling to a foreign country, you will need to make arrangements to change over your currency if it is not accepted. Make plans for this in advance so that you are not hit with ridiculously high exchange fees. Your regular bank may be able to help you out before you leave on your trip. This is probably a far less expensive option than waiting until you arrive in the foreign country because the fees for changing currency are probably much lower while you are still in the U.S.
5. Are there any portions of the resort that will be under construction during your stay?
If your goal is to relax on vacation, the last thing you need to find out upon your arrival is that there will be construction on the floor immediately above yours. This could make it very difficult for you to get a good night’s sleep and relax during your stay. At the very least, ask to get a room that is as far away as possible from any construction areas of the resort.
6. Are there any extra fees not listed in the rate you are quoted that you will be required to pay?
You definitely do not want to be blindsided by any surprise fees when you go to check out of the hotel. Ask in advance about any specific resort fees that will be charged so that you have a clear idea of the full price that you will be paying for your stay. Also, keep in mind that gratuity is typically not included in any of the rates that you are quoted by the resort. You probably want to keep some small bills in your wallet for this.
