When you’re headed to Disney World, it can seem as though it’s a dream come true. The moment you have your ticket in hand, it will be very overwhelming in terms of what you should do first. Even as you’re in the planning phase in terms of where you should stay and when you should go, there are some must do’s that you should know about.

Walk Down Main Street

Main Street at the Magic Kingdom holds a significant amount of intrigue. There is a wide array of specialty shops, each ready to provide the highest level of customer service. You can find everything from Disney-themed caramel apples to music boxes to t-shirts throughout Main Street. In the afternoons, you will also want to make sure you are here as it will allow you to enjoy a front row seat to one of the most phenomenal parades you will ever get to witness.

All Aboard the Railroad

There is the Walt Disney Railroad, which goes around all of Magic Kingdom. It’s a great way to understand the layout of the park and also get to see the homes of Mickey and Minnie. You will be able to see more of the monorail system that is used to go back and forth between the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, too.

The train only takes about 20 minutes to go around the entire perimeter of the park. Kids of all ages are able to ride, too, as there is absolutely no height restriction. This means it’s fun for the whole family.

Character Breakfast at Cinderella’s Castle

Enjoy a delicious breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, and everyone else at Cinderella’s Castle. This is a special, ticketed item. If you want the chance to meet some of the Disney celebrities like Cinderella and Prince Charming, this will be the best way to do it. You also get an up close look at the infamous castle.

Ride Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain is one of the most iconic rides at Walt Disney World. You will get to enjoy a lot of character animation throughout the ride. In the end, you will take the flume ride down a large drop and get wet. While ponchos are available, getting wet is half the fun. You will also have a chance to buy the photo that was snapped as you are mid-descent. This photo will be one of the best souvenirs you could ask for during your trip.

Attend One of the Special Events

There are several events that take place across Walt Disney World throughout the year. Some of these are special ticket items, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas, which both happen at the Magic Kingdom. The Not So Scary event allows you to dress in costume and trick or treat your way through the theme park. Very Merry provides you with opportunities to sip hot cocoa and eat sugar cookies at various stations.

There are also weeks at Epcot that include the Flower & Garden Festival and the Food & Wine Festival that simply involve extra ways to get involved. There is an “Eat to the Beat” series that runs through the Food & Wine Festival where you can enjoy live music while dining on food from around the world.

Of course, other weekends occur at Hollywood Studios, including Star Wars Weekend and Soaps weekend. Each of these involves a large number of celebrities appearing, which is a chance to get some amazing photos and meet-and-greet opportunities.

Regardless of why you love Disney, you can find a themed event that will be worthy of attending. Whether you have to buy a separate ticket to attend or not, they’re worth visiting.

Whatever you do at Walt Disney World will be filled with excitement and memories. Be sure to plan ahead so you spend more time enjoying yourself and less time looking at a map.
