Those who participate in meditation reap the benefits of a clear and tamed mind as well as, a decrease in physical pain.

What Style of Meditation Should You Try?
There is no clear answer to what would work for you. Everyone is different, but there are many ways to introduce yourself to the practice. In fact, there are so many different styles of meditation, you may have trouble choosing one! A personal favorite is Vipassana meditation which is the practice of focusing on breathing and slowly shifting the focus to your senses.

Mindful Reflection
In a book entitled How To Win and Influence People, Dale Carnegie explained an intriguing weekly process. Every week on a day of your choosing, recollect the events of the week. Did you accomplish what you set out for? Did you do anything you weren’t proud of? Write every pro and con that you can recall, and reflect upon that. After a few weeks, you will banish activities from your schedule that lead to unhappiness and promote the activities that bring you joy. Imagine the possibilities of doing this for decades!

Mindful reflection is important for busy people. This activity produces a moment everyone needs in order to catch up with their emotions. Without a moment of relaxation, stress will ruin your day.

Walk 5 Times per Week
If thinking about going to the gym makes you tired, don’t worry about it! In a recent post by the Huffington Post, they suggest walking 75 to 150 minutes per week. On the other hand, the more vigorous your exercise regimen the more benefits you will reap. If you are struggling to get off the couch, walking up and down your block will do.

These are not only physical but mental improvements as well. In a recent study entitled Exercise and Mental Health, scientists came to the conclusion that the best way to prevent mental deterioration was through a solid exercise regimen.

Rest and Rebuild at Night
The average American does not get enough rest. If you sleep an average of 6 hours or less, you are creating problems before you eat breakfast. There are several effects of poor sleeping schedule. We have outlined major setbacks below.

The average American diet centers itself around meat and dairy. These foods taste absolutely delicious, but they benefit our palette more than our bodies. These foods are high in HDL cholesterol, the cholesterol that clogs arteries. This causes a lack of oxygen flow throughout our body, lowering our levels of “happy” hormones.

In contrast, many fruits and vegetables are high in nutritional value and low in cholesterol and fats. This combination promotes a healthier body.
